Brief Historiography Worksheet:
Directions: As we have already learned, a good history teacher uses historiography to guide the research that goes into a good lesson plan. This research paper uses only a brief historiographical approach by requiring you to use two different sources with different interpretions of your topic. In this assignment, you are going to
- summarize the main points of your two sources and the points upon which they agree and disagree,
- explain your interpretation based upon evidence from your two sources, and
- describe how the information gained from the two sources did or did not support your original thesis.
To Do: On a separate sheet of paper, respond to the following with carefully typewritten, grammatically correct answers.
- Summarize the 3-5 most important points made by the author(s) of your first source. Be sure to include a full citation.
- Summarize the 3-5 most important points made by the author(s) of your second source. Be sure to include a full citation.
- Summarize the points upon which both authors agree.
- Summarize the points upon which the authors disagree.
- Explain your interpretation of your topic based upon the evidence from your two sources. Be sure to cite your evidence.
- Describe how the information you learned from your two sources did or did not support your original thesis. Be sure to describe your original thesis.
